What Is a Smart Board?

A smart board is an interactive digital display that combines a large touchscreen with software and computing capabilities for writing, presenting, collaboration, or other interactive tasks.

"Smart board" is also used as a product category term. The exact meaning can vary by manufacturer. SMART Technologies uses "SMART Board" as a product name for interactive displays designed for education and collaboration.

In general usage, however, people often use "smart board" to describe a large-format touchscreen device that can perform more functions than a conventional display.

What Makes a Smart Board "Smart"?
